Cooking Classes
Join us for hands-on cooking masterclasses focused on the foundational techniques at the heart of classic French cooking. Led by Bergerac’s head chef and owner, Joris Barbaray, these technique-driven sessions are designed to help you understand not just how to cook a dish, but why it works—so you can cook with confidence long after the class ends.

We’ll cook together from start to finish, breaking down essential methods such as sauce-making, proper seasoning, heat control, and timing. Along the way, we’ll explore variations and applications you can adapt at home, discuss common kitchen pitfalls, and share practical tips for troubleshooting when things don’t go as planned. There will be plenty of time for questions throughout, whether you’re refining a skill or curious about the decision-making behind the dish.

To wrap up, we’ll sit down together to enjoy what we’ve cooked, because good food is best understood—and remembered—around the table.

All of our classes are designed for cooks of every level, from curious beginners to confident home cooks, and can be adapted for vegetarians and pescatarians. Our Crème Pâtissière class is also suitable for gluten-free guests. Classes are open to all Guests 14 & over.

Classes will take place off-site at Che Event Space (920 NE Glisan Street), a bright, welcoming space with an open kitchen and lovely natural light.

A signed liability waiver is required for all participants before each class begins.

Additional classes focused on butchery techniques, French baking and classic French dishes will be added later in the year.
